PUBLICIS COMMERCE LAUNCHES IN APAC WITH KEN MANDEL LEADING OPERATIONS

Publicis Media Asia Pacific has launched Publicis Commerce in partnership with Interactive Solutions which will be headed up by Ken Mandel (pictured), Starcom’s president of global network solutions Asia Pacific.

In his new capacity, Mandel is responsible for building and leading the new business capability around commerce and innovation at Publicis Media Asia Pacific.

KEN MANDEL JOINS SMG IN GLOBAL CLIENT ROLE

Based in Singapore but with a global mandate, Mandel will report to John Sheehy, SMG’s president of global operations, and serve on the Global Leadership Council.

The Global Client Network is "a seamless global organisation" for clients that operate in multiple markets, "providing brand growth and innovation", according to SMG.

Mandel will work with counterparts Kim Kadlec in the Americas and Jodie Stranger in EMEA to "drive closer alignment" with the needs of SMG’s top 15 global clients, the company.

The judging panel is now joined by Ken Mandel, founding in residence of startup mentorship initiative Jam Ventures. An industry veteran, Mandel has worked with Yahoo, and helped establish Buddy Media (now Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and Hootsuite in Asia-Pacific. KEN MANDEL TO HEAD HOOTSUITE IN APAC

Social relationship management platform HootSuite has appointed Ken Mandel as its managing director for Asia Pacific.

Mandel (pictured) has experience in both sales and digital advertising in APAC and brings a wide range of enterprise innovation and executive leadership experience to HootSuite. He will now be responsible for HootSuite's regional growth strategy and rapid expansion with enterprise customers.

AD TECH PROVIDER ROCKET FUEL SHARES NEARLY DOUBLE IN DEBUT

Shares of advertisement technology company Rocket Fuel Inc nearly doubled in their debut as investors flocked to grab a piece of the company that has shown impressive revenue growth. The company, which helps customers place their ads on websites and mobile networks, sold 4 million shares at the top end of its price range of $27-$29 per share, raising $116 million.

JWT ENTERS MYANMAR; SIGNS AFFILIATION AGREEMENT WITH MANGO MARKETING

JWT has become the latest international agency network to move into Myanmar, signing an affiliation agreement with Mango Marketing in the newly opened market. The agreement, signed today, gives JWT an option to buy equity in the Myanmar agency, which JWT said it would exercise “at a time that is beneficial to JWT and to Mango.”

IT'S STILL ALL ABOUT KNOWING THE CUSTOMER

Speaking with Shibani Mahtani in Singapore, Mr. Mandel talked about the challenges and potential in digital advertising, how companies can crack their social-media strategy, and the opportunities that Asia's emerging markets hold.

WSJ: The digital landscape and tools available to companies and individuals now can sometimes be overwhelming—how should companies think of their digital and social media strategies?

Mr. Mandel: It is complete chaos out there with all the tools available, and this is the problem we are trying to solve for. You have these very large platforms, and people go to them every day, but it becomes a spaghetti mess for the stakeholders. KEN MANDEL JOINS BUDDY MEDIA AS MD OF ITS NEW ASIA PACIFIC HQ

Social network marketing software provider Buddy Media is set to open an Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, bringing in Ken Mandel as its managing director.

Mandel joins from Yahoo Asia-Pacific, where he was most recently regional vice president and managing director of the Southeast Asia division. He left in March to set up an independent boutique agency in Singapore, Jam Ventures. He currently also serves as chairman of the Interactive Advertising Bureau's Southeast Asia chapter and is a former vice chairman (currently honourary board member) of the Mobile Marketing Association Asia-Pacific.

Commenting on the appointment, Mandel said, "I am thrilled to be part of the Mobile Now growth story. How could you not bet on mobile, gaming and application development in this region! With their strong presence in China and Singapore regional sales office Mobile Now is extremely well positioned to be a major mobile ecosystem player in Asia Pacific and beyond."

Michael Lazerow, founder and CEO of Buddy Media, says Mandel's experience will be "invaluable" for the company's contined expansion in the Asia region. "Ken possesses an understanding of social marketing software that will further enhance our ability to offer the best technology and services to hundreds of clients worldwide," he said.

Mandel says he had a number of options for his next career challenge, but chose a smaller organisation with a unique role. "This was an easy choice for me to join a rapidly expanding and innovative company with great people."

MOBILE NOW SETS UP REGIONAL OFFICE IN SINGAPORE

Digital veteran Ken Mandel has joined the team in an advisory capacity. Previously with Yahoo and WPP, he will work alongside existing advisors such as Dirk Eschenbacher, regional and digital ECD, as well as Fritz Demopoulos, the former CEO of Qunar.

MANDEL TO APPEAR ON NEW TV SHOW AIMED AT STARTUPS, ENTREPRENEURS, AND ANGELS

Ken Mandel has been selected as one of the 'Angels' (judges) in a new television show called Angel’s Gate to be broadcast across Asia and the Internet.

Backed by Asia's leading venture funds, Angel’s Gate is a 360-degree platform spanning the TV, Web and Mobile that gives entrepreneurs the opportunity of a lifetime to pitch their dream business ideas to some of Asia's most successful investors.
